I am a creative who writes from my home in Colorado. I've enjoyed careers alongside dynamic doers and shakers within women-centered small businesses, start-ups, and global non-profits. These professional paths opened through my undergraduate and graduate work in international development, African studies, and gender studies paired with my personal aims for wellness derived from yoga and meditation. I am also a certified teacher with over 2,000 training hours in yoga and functional movement.

As an avid reader, books have claimed an immeasurable space in my life.  Writing, however, has only recently emerged as a space of potential that I was willing to explore. Fear of the unknown, excitement, and timidity were all imagined obstacles until 2020 when I hit an emotional impasse from discussions of race and racism in America. My sanctuary of reading instinctually led me to investigate antiracism literature, memoirs, historical texts, articles, blogs, and online forums until this tidal wave of information left me with only one outlet—personal reflection. This unexpected formula fostered the slow-burn desire to write. To share. To explode outwards instead of inwards. This feeling of self-combustion materialized as an idea to write a historical fiction story that blends my imagination with the lessons that I wished America learned the first time around.

My aim on this website and in my forthcoming book is two-fold:

  • to contextualize race, allyship, and being a minority in America by sharing reflections, stories, and resources.

  • to reinvigorate narratives from our collective past to promote justice and equity today.

On my favorite days, you can find me typing away in my plant-strewn office, throwing together impromptu dinners, digging about my hobby garden, hiking through Colorado’s mountains, immersing myself in yet another book, or simply lounging beside my other half. My home is made complete by my high school sweetheart turned husband, Bret, and our two rescue greyhounds, Lyra and Luna.

My Values

Be Curious

I'm learning and as I feel my way through this, I pledge to keep open and brave by invoking the sage words of Brené Brown: "I'm here to get it right, not to be right."

Be Authentic

The adventure of putting myself before you is electrifying and terrifying. I will continuously show up in this beautifully messy process with honesty and authenticity.

Be Humble

I'm an authority on only what I've experienced. I am learning how my experiences are shaped by privilege and how to unpack that baggage. Learning from others is a core part of relearning and improving.

Be of Assistance

I need tools to navigate this world and I bet you do too. I'm using this space to cultivate growth in myself and perhaps in others too. Let me know how I can support you -
